tattoo policies

First of all, thank you for being our canvas for this new piece of artwork.

To ensure your tattoo heals in the most desirable matter, we suggest you follow these instructions.

SANIDERM INSTRUCTIONS (adhesive bandage)
Saniderm can be left on for 3-4 days as long as there is no punctures, leaks of fluid (from tattoo or into bandage). If there is irritation or redness from the bandage adhesive, we recommend taking it off and healing it normally. Saniderm is waterproof and can be warn in the shower or while swimming. No care is needed while Saniderm is on securely. Taking off Saniderm in shower is easiest method to remove the bandage.  Clean right away and gently remove and excess fluid or matter on tattoo surface.  Then heal normally. If Saniderm is used again after initial application and removal, the second Saniderm bandage can be worn for 5-6 days.

HEALING INSTRUCTIONS (with plastic and healing normally)

After you’ve left the shop leave that bandage on for at least 3 hours! A tattoo is an open wound that is most susceptible to bacteria and infection when it’s fresh. Try to take your bandage off within 5-8 hours and clean it thoroughly right away. Your tattoo may be sore and swollen but that should go away within a few days.

Every time you clean your tattoo make sure your hands are clean! Use lukewarm water and an unscented antibacterial soap such as Dial Gold or Antibacterial SoftSoap using your hands or a wet paper towel. Do not use a washcloth or anything abrasive.  Do not use alcohol to clean your tattoo. Make sure you wash it well and let it dry completely before adding a thin layer of Aquaphor or A&D ointment. Tattoo healing products such as Hustle Butter or Tattoo Goo are also acceptable. Refrain from using Vaseline, Neosporin, and scented lotions.

Clean and reapply ointment to your tattoo 2-3 times a day for the first 1-5 days of healing (the most significant days of taking good care). After, make sure your tattoo has a thin layer of ointment on it and stays clean for the rest of the two weeks of healing. Everyone heals differently - some may take a full month to heal while some take about a week.

After a few days your tattoo will probably go through an ugly phase of peeling and perhaps even scabbing. This is completely normal. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH IT! Pieces of your tattoo can flake off if you rub it the wrong way,  so let it do its thing. Putting more ointment or using Bactine can help alleviate the itch.

Yes, you can shower with it and get it wet. Just don’t use anything abrasive or scented on it while it’s healing. Pools, hot tubs, lakes, or ponds are a no-go, they can cause damage and possibly infection to your tattoo. Saltwater exposure is okay, but be sure to not submerge it for too long and clean and reapply ointment immediately after.

Keep sun exposure to a minimum. The sun can make your tattoo fade and discolor very quickly. After your tattoo is done healing, make sure to use sunblock when out in the sun and moisturize frequently to preserve its vibrancy.
